Election Petition Tribunal Begins Sitting In Kebbi

The Kebbi State national and state assembly election petition tribunal has commenced hearing of petitions filed before the tribunal Wednesday, in Birnin Kebbi.
The sitting which commenced with suit No: EPT/BK/HR/02/ 2023 was that of Muhammad Bala Usman challenging the election outcome of Yauri/ Shanga and Ngaski federal constituency in to the National Assembly.
The petition indicated that Muhammad Bala Usman of the people’s Democratic party (PDP) is the petitioners while Hon. Yusuf Tanko Sununu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the first and second respondent while the Independent Electoral commission (INEC) is third respondent in the petition.
Counsel’s to the petitioners, Barrister Chief Magnus Ihejirika confirmed to tribunal that their petition is matured since processes has been exchanged meaning issues are now joined, so they are ready to go on with the matter.
Counsel to first respondent Barrister Hussaini Zakariya (SAN), Second respondent counsel Barrister Buhari Shehu and third respondent counsel Barrister M H. Hassan have all confirmed to the tribunal that issues are now joined.
The tribunal under the chairmanship of Honourable Justice Margret Opara adjourned the matter to Friday 28 April for continuation of hearing following an application moved by the petitioners counsel Barrister chief Magnus Ihejirika to put their house in order, and both counsel’s of first, second and third respondents did not raise any objection to the application moved by the petitioners counsel’s seeking for a short adjournment.
