Nigerian Institution Is Compromised–Ndume …..Blames Senate For Ratifying Buhari’s N22.7 Trillion
A Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has declared that the Nigerian institution is compromised.
He spoke in an interview with Channels Television monitored in Lagos on Tuesday.
Reacting to the comment made by Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa that he influenced his wife to favour some of his colleagues in discharging her duties as the President of court of appeal, Ndume said the institution is compromised.
He, however, said the open confession on Senator Bulkachuwa is good for the system, adding that it will help to correct the loopholes.
Ndume, who said he will not be held responsible for the failings of the newly elected President of the senate , Godswill Akpabio, explained that he’s qualified going by his track records.
He said; ” the open confession of Senator Bulkachuwa that he influenced his wife to favour some of his colleagues is good for the system. It will help to correct the loopholes in the system. It takes courage to make such open confession. For instance, my first wife is a high court judge and once your friends know, they may put pressure on you to favour them. It will only take men of strong will to resist such pressure.”
On the ratification of the N22.7trillion ways and means presented to it by the former President Muhammadu Buhari at the twilight of the 9th assembly, Ndume said he regretted being part of the process.
” The job of the senate is to approve and not ratify. I regret being part of the process. Although, the presiding officer has a way to ensure that those of us that are critical about such will not be in the Senate Chambers when such decisions are taken.” He said.
