In Kebbi, Council Chairman Orders Demolition Of Properties

A business man in Jega local government area of Kebbi State, Faruk Sarkin Kabi Jega, has decried the action of the Jega local government council chairman for demolishing two of his houses at Government Reserve Area (GRA) in Jega and allocated the land for the establishment of fire service station.
Speaking to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, Sarkin Kabi Jega, said he and his brother Shehu Marshall acquire the land for the past 18 years and with relevant documents to back their ownership.
According to him, to their surprised, on Wednesday morning they found out that, some staff of the local council and security men were seen demolishing the structure put in place on the land with out notifying any of them.
Jega explains that, they obtained the land in appropriate way with all relevant documents and therefore wants the state government to intervene by compensating them with a land or refund their money.
He said, they are taking legal action over the matter as their lawyer has written a letter to the local government council waiting for their reply before going to court.
While responding to the allegation, the Jega local government council chairman, Murtala Habib Jega, said the land was revoked after an executive council meeting held by the local government and was allocated to the community based on their request to established a fire service station in the area.
Habib Jega, disclosed that, the state governor had signed a document for allocation of the land to the community to establish a fire service station.
Jega called on the complainer to forward any document in respect of the land if there is any for the local government to pay compensation or else he should take a legal action against the complainers.
