The appointment of former Rivers State governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike, as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by President Bola Tinubu has been commended by the Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN).
A statement on Tuesday by the National President of the association, Khalil Bello said Barrister Wike’s political journey, even before his prominent role in the 2023 general election to his successful navigation through the ministerial screening at the National Assembly, has been a testament to his resilience and dedication.
He added that Wike’s commitment to maintaining the FCT master plan further underscores his determination to uphold the integrity of his office.
Bello said: “We, at KACRAN, believe that President Tinubu’s decision to appoint Barrister Wike, the first Southerner to hold this position, is a significant step towards fostering unity and understanding among Nigerians. Barrister Wike’s appointment symbolizes a new strategy to strengthen the mutual relationship and brotherhood among Nigeria’s confederate units.
“We cannot ignore Barrister Wike’s track record, including the implementation of a special program for livestock development in River State, demonstrating his ability to hold a central position and make significant contributions to the nation’s progress.
“We seize this opportunity to, most humbly, remind Barrister Wike of the immense responsibility that comes with his new role. As the Minister of the FCT, he is expected to treat all citizens with equity, justice, and fairness, avoiding any vindictive policies or actions that may victimize political opponents.
“We urge him to continue to remain open to constructive criticism and to consider it as an opportunity for growth rather than a personal attack. His tenure should be marked by sincerity, trustworthiness, and kindness towards all Nigerians.
“We strongly advise Barrister Wike to use his position to develop Abuja, giving it a national outlook that reflects the unity and diversity of Nigeria. His accessibility to the public will ensure that good ideas and visions are heard and implemented for the betterment of the city and its inhabitants.
“We also urge him to remember that his role as FCT Minister is one of the most sensitive positions in Nigeria, given the diverse interests of Nigerians in the city of Abuja. This opportunity, which usually comes once, should be utilized judiciously and transparently, in order to leave behind a legacy of progress and unity.”
He called on all stakeholders to support Barrister Nyesom Wike in his mission to deliver his best for the benefit of Nigeria and her people.
