Army Arrests Personnel Linked To Assault On Civilian In Rivers State

The Headquarters, 6 Division, Nigerian Army has expressed dismay at the unprofessional conduct of two of its personnel involved in the brutality of a civilian in Rivers State, in a viral video making the rounds in the social media.
In a statement signed by Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Lt Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, the division said the soldiers involved in that unprofessional conduct have been clearly identified and arrested.
Lt. Col. Jonah Danjuma while emphasizing its commitment to upholding professional standards and respecting fundamental human rights, said the Division took swift action by identifying and subsequently arresting the soldiers involved in the reprehensible act.
He said the Nigerian Army underlined its dedication to conducting operations within established rules of engagement, while making it clear that any misconduct by its personnel would not be tolerated.
Danjuma added that Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army/Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, has directed an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident.
He assured the public that stringent measures would be taken against those found responsible, leaving no room for impunity.
The Division urged members of the public to continue providing credible information on such unprofessional conduct, reinforcing its commitment to responsiveness and accountability.
This isolated incident was described as regrettable, with the assurance that it would be expeditiously addressed.
