COSEG To Ndume:Stop Heating Up The Polity
Yoruba group,Coalition of Oodua Self determination Groups (COSEG) has warned senator Alli Ndume not to unnecessarily heat up the polity over his statement on the alleged plans to relocate some departments of the CBN to Lagos state ,describing his recent attack against the president and threat of political consequences as “unwarranted, illogical, sentimental , dishonest and unexpected ” of a ranking senator like him .
The group in a statement on Sunday signed by the Chairman of it’s Coordinating Council,Comrade Dayo Ogunlana, warned the senator to desist from making inflammatory comments ,but rather employ peaceful approach and seek knowledge on the desirability of the lofty and germane idea.
The group equally admonish the Borno state senator to listen to wise counsels of eminent Economists, who have thrown their weight behind the reform rather than playing to the gallery.
In his words ” We see the recent attempt by senator Ndume to blackmail the president as illogical, unwarranted, reckless and absolutely uncalled for. The idea of moving some departments of the CBN was conceived long time ago and it was intended to strengthen the apex bank in it’s delivery on the core mandate. So, coming to threaten political consequences is an affront on the office of the president and clearly shows senator Ndume despite his long stay in the senate doesn’t understand workings of government. It is plausible that former Governors of CBN and Directors have supported this idea which they said is long overdue. This parochial and self serving condemnation of this noble idea from Senator Ndume is just unwarranted and unfortunately coming from a ranking senator who ought to be faithful to his country. “
