It’s Impossible For Me Olumide Akpata To Be A Surrogate Of Gov Godwin Obaseki … Says Asue Ighodalo Project Has Hiccups
A former President of Nigeria Bar Association, Olumide Akpata, has disassociated his political ambition in the Labour Party as governorship aspirant from the whims and caprices of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Akpata, who spoke on channels television current affairs programmes, Politics Today, monitored in Lagos on Sunday, said he is not Obaseki’s plan ‘B’, in Labour Party as being touted.
The former NBA President said those using that like a ‘sword of damocles’ were intentional to demarket him.
He, however, said even the much touted support that Obaseki has for Asue Ighodalo in the Peoples Democratic Party is having serious Hiccups now.
Akpata says, ” Yes, I know, the campaign of me being the plan B of Obaseki is like a sword of damocles hanging on me. Those using it know what they are doing, it’s to demarket me. Even the Asue Ighodalo’s project is having serious Hiccups now.
” I believe in politics. There should be decency. Obaseki is my friend, but I disagree with the way he runs Edo state. I believe things could be better. That’s why I throw my hat into the ring. That’s why those who want to demarket me will be quick to say, he’s Obaseki’s counsel. It’s impossible for me, Olumide Akpata, to be a surrogate of Governor Godwin Obaseki in Labour Party.”
