Dabiri-Erewa Calls On Nigerians In Diaspora To Showcase Nigeria’s Valuable Potentials, Virtues Of The People

The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa,has called on Nigerians in Diaspora to develop a strong and dynamic collaboration to showcase the valuable potentials of Nigeria and the virtues of his people.
She made the call in Abuja at a book (The Number One Mission: Nigeria High Commission in UK) launch in Abuja by a Nigerian-UK based author and Property magnet, Mr Yemi Edun.
The NiDCOM chairman said Nigeria was judged through the actions of it’s citizens living abroad, which is why the Federal Government, through the Commission, mandates Diasporas to be good Ambassadors of the country; excel in whatever field of endeavour and always remember home, and giving back to their country.
While commending Mr. Yemi Edun for contributing his quota to knowledge and the history of Nigeria’s Number One Diplomacy, the NiDCOM chairman urged Nigerians in Diaspora to emulate him by giving back to the country.
The Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Seriake Dickson said the book would boost the body of knowledge, and display how some prominent Nigerians made their mark in Diplomacy and International Relations.
A former Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, Amb. Christopher Kolade, called on Nigerians in the UK and beyond, to realise that they embody the Nigerian identity, urging them to work with dignity and excellence to create a positive perception.
A businessman and politician, Sen. Yusuf Baba Datti-Ahmed,in his goodwill remarks said that the writer has created a piece that reveals Nigeria-UK relations through the Nigerian mission in the UK.
He applauded the writer and encouraged the publication to be a book for reference towards national development.
The author, Mr. Yemi Edun said curiosity led him to write a story about the history and lifestyle of Nigerians living in the UK, including the consulate.
Edun explained that in the course of research, he noticed several stories to celebrate Nigeria.
He asserted that more of such histories should be published to applaud the country.
He revealed that the proceeds of the book would be channelled toward charity and empowerment of the indigents.
