CSO Petitions EFCC Over Abuse Of Naira By Kebbi Lawmaker

A civil society organisation, Coalition of Northern Group (CNG), a branch of the Civil Society Organisation, Kebbi State Chapter has during the week petitioned the Economic Financial Crime Commission(EFCC ) over alleged abuse of the Naira by a member of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Umaru Salah Sambawa.
The group in a letter signed by it’s chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Muhammed and secretary general comrade Mansur Isah Guruza to the EFCC, dated 6th, May 2024 and made available to Journalists said it wished to draw the attention of the graft agency to the violation of Section 21 of CBN Act 2017 on Naira mutilation/abuse by Hon. Umaru Salah Sambawa.
“A video clip showing how he committed the violation is hereby attached for your perusal and guidance.
“Sambawa is a serving member of the Kebbi State House of Assembly representing Maiyama Local Government Constituency.
“In our commitment to ensuring that the law is strictly adhered to and in pursuant to the provision of our mandate, we found it necessary to report the action of the lawmaker for investigation and prosecution to serve as deterrence to would-be offenders.” The petition read.
