Release Adejuwon Soyinka Now, Former NUJ President Tells DSS

Former President of Journalists Union in the country, Lanre Ogundipe has called for immediate and unconditional release of the Regional Editor of The Conversation Africa, Mr. Adejuwon Soyinka.

Mr. Soyinka was arrested early this morning on his return from United Kingdom around 5.40 am at Murtal Mohammed Airport Ikeja, Lagos by operatives of the State Security Department .

In a press statement by Ogundipe stated that the clampdown on Journalists in the country under this regime is showing traces of return of a facissit government under President Bola Tinubu.

Said he: I am not disappointed but surprised that the intelligence agents under Prsident Tinubu has return to era fascism under the military with indiscriminate arrest of Journalists in the country.

“With Soyinka’s arrest, it is worrisome that the continued deterioration of the freedom of the Press in Nigeria has been on the increase in the recent time”, he added.
