National Honours: Reps Demand GCON For Speaker Abbas

The House of Representatives, in a motion of urgent public importance, has called for the conferment of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, to achieve equal standing with the Senate.

The House said they are not subordinate to the Senate and directed its relevant committees to initiate the process for amending the National Honours Act of 1964.

They argued that, according to the order of protocol, the Speaker in No 4, expressing surprise that the CJN, who is No 5, was given GCON , and the Speaker, CFR.
