Kebbi Govt Sets Up 9- Man C’mttee On Students’ Unrest

Authorities in Kebbi State Ministry for Higher Education has set up a nine man committee headed by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Husseini Abdulahi Zuru to probe the immediate and remote causes of Students at the State College of Health Technology in Jega town on Thursday.

This initiative was disclosed to newsmen on Friday by the Permanent Secretary who also doubled as the Chairman of the committee.

According to him, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Abubakar Isah Tunga while setting up the Committee had given the committee within two to three weeks to submit their findings on the unfortunate incident.  

The committee’s term of reference is to inquire the rationale behind the Students unrest that led to the wanton vandalisation of the college properties and the burning down of the School Provost residence among others.

Other members of the committee include,  Nura Fingila, (Hon Commissioner for Youth and Sports member), Hon. Magaji Abdulahi, member, Mohammed M Mano, member, Alhaji Husseini Tala, member.

Others are, Alhaji Usman Musa Suru, Alhaji Abubakar Bagudu, Alhaji Aliyu’s Shehu Jega, a Director in the Ministry, who will serve as Secretary of the committee among others.

The committee is also charged to look critically and identify Student leaders who ignite the unrest and also identify Lecturers who motivated and participated in the unrest.

The Committee Chairman promised that the committee would work assiduously to unravel every reasons behind the disturbance and bring those involved to justice.
