Group Hails Lagos FA, Stakeholders On Cash Gifts To Female Footballers

The encouraging and continued growth of football in Lagos State has been generating positive vibes and plaudits from football fans, investors and stakeholders in and outside the state.
The latest accolades came from the National Coordinator of Friends of Nigeria Sports (FNS), Chief Diprieye Thompson, who was effusive in praises for the board of Lagos FA led by Hajji Gafar Liameed, on the cash gifts given to the members of the gold medal winning female football team to the recent National Youth Games.
“It might look inconsequential to some people, but I will tell you that the cash gifts would go a long way to encourage these young girls. It definitely shows that they are in good hands in the state,” he remarked.
He recalled with fond memories, the recent Girls Child 1-day football coaching and mentorship programme tagged ‘It Is Time For Girls’, organised by Lagos State Football Association, which he described as unprecedented in the history of state football associations in Nigeria.
“Therefore, I am not surprised that the Lagos State girls won gold at the football event of the NYG. Football would continue to develop and grow in this state, because the leadership of the State FA are wholly committed to the development and growth of the game in the state.”
Diprieye went on to commend the benevolence of football investors and stakeholders such as the Chief Executive Officer of NPFL side Ikorodu City, Sanmi Doherty, Senior Special Assistant on Sports to Lagos State Governor, Hon. Damilare Orimoloye, Chairman of Buruj Football Academy, Alhaji Waheed Salaudeen and Victor Akinmoyo, for donating cash to celebrate and encourage the triumphant young girls.
He rallied other stakeholders and corporate bodies to support the several activities and programmes of the State FA, for the benefits of the game in Lagos and Nigeria.
