Did you know that 50 Christians were murdered in both Plateau and Benue States between December 22nd and December 25th, 2024?
On the night of December 22, some assailants described as Fulani herdsmen invaded Dowchai community, also known as Gidan Ado, in Riyom county and murdered 22 people in cold blood, including a one-year old and a 13-year old.
In a separate attack in Benue state on Christmas Day, another set of Fulani herdsmen attacked a cluster of five predominantly Christian villages in Kwande county, killing 33 people and setting fire to homes.
Fifty innocent souls were brutally silenced, and two weeks after, our leaders in Christians Association Nigeria (CAN) in the two states and at the national level are still deaf and dumb. Nothing is heard from them up till now. Too bad!
And in the South of Nigeria, we were busy eating the Christmas chickens and drinking wine while some communities and families in the North were mourning and living under the most terrified conditions on daily basis in their homelands.
Rather than all Christians coming together in strong faith against the persecutors, churches are fighting over doctrines as if Jesus died for only one denomination.
Unfortunately, leaders who have big platforms to raise their voices against these powers of darkness are struggling to overdo themselves on who will give the best and accurate New Year prophecies. They took prophecies so seriously as if that was the main subject of Christianity.
Stupidly, we became “judges” of ourselves on who is what while the enemies are on the field depleting those on “This Way”. Sadly, many of us speak as if we are God’s gatekeepers in God’s Kingdom.
50 Christians callously slain within two days in Nigeria! Did you hear anything from your President? No. Did you hear anything from his outspoken aides? No. Bola Ahmed Tinubu was in Lagos celebrating theNew Year festival with his family and cronies.
Only 14 people were murdered in New Orleans in the United States, President Joe Biden left everything to visit the grief-stricken city to console the bereaved people. That’s the difference between a ruler and a leader.
How many people have been arrested by our security agencies for these dastardly acts on law-abiding Nigerians? I think we will wait for eternity to see this happening.
I wish our wealthy pastors will mobilise resources by sending helping hands to the bereaved families and the affected communities.
