Group Condemns DSS Invasion Of Lagos Assembly…Warns Security Agencies Not To Turn Nigeria To Police State
The United Action Front of the Civil Society, UAFCS wishes to berate in the strongest terms the unholy invasion of the hallowed chambers of the Lagos State House of Assembly today by armed security operatives in a bid to halt the proceedings of the Assembly.
UAFCS in a statement signed by its chairman, Olawale Okunniyi said this act by the DSS to us is barbaric and injurious democracy, which is the foundation of the current Civil governance in Nigeria, as it’s a taboo for security operatives of the State to intrude and interfere in the internal democratic affairs of any government organ especially the parliament of the people for whatever reasons or under any circumstances.
The group called on the leadership of the Department of State Services, DSS to immediately withdraw it’s men from the current interloping in the internal democratic affairs of the House of Assembly and ensure its men comport themselves within the civility that guides democratic rule world over henceforth as Nigeria can not afford to revert back to Police State of the dark days of Abacha military rule.
