PFAN Demands Investigation Of The Death Of Nigerian Footballer In Uganda

The Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) is saddened by news of the sudden  death of Mr Abubakar Lawal who plys his trade with Vipers Sports Club of Kitende Entebbe Uganda.

In a letter signed by its General Secretary, Edema Fuludu, the players union, in the letter sent to High Commissioner through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also copied to the Chairman Senate Committee on Sports, Chairman House Of Representatives Committee on Sports, as well as, the Inspector General of Police, is requesting for a thorough investigation into the sudden death of Abubakar Lawal.

“We are calling on the office of the High commissioner through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to urge the Ugandan government to unravel the real circumstances that led to the untimely death of Abubakar Lawal.

“It is unacceptable to have three different narratives on one death. He was said to have died in a motorcycle accident, then it was a fatal car crash and finally a fall from the popular Voicemail shopping Arcade in Kampala Uganda. 

“We suspect something is amiss and trust that the Ugandan police will do a thorough job. Under no circumstances should this investigation be thrown into any diplomatic basket. The players Union, the family of Abubakar Lawal and Nigerians, want to know the real narrative of his death.A young, vibrant and promising football star has been cut short. Who is responsible?,” PFAN asked rhetorically.”
