Rivers: CUPP Calls On International Community To Impose Sanctions On Those Scuttling Democracy In Nigeria …Says Pro-Wike Group Planning To Remove Ugochinyere From NASS
THE Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, has raised the alarm that there are surreptitious moves by those they alleged to be pro-Wike groups to get the seat of Honorable Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere representing Ideato Federal Constituency of Imo state in House of Representatives vacant by illegal means.
It also warns that the threats to impeach the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Governor Siminalayi Fubara amount to threats against Nigeria’s democracy.
In a Press Release this Tuesday signed by the Coalition’s national Spokesperson, Comrade Mark Adebayo, the number one opposition Coalition in the country states that “The twin threats to illegally declare the seat of Honorable Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere vacant in the House of Representatives and the current clandestine moves to illegally impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara by groups suspected to be pro-Wike are direct threats to this Republic.
“We wish to remind those who misuse the levers of power today just because they are in government that not only that power is transient by nature, but that this was how the demise of the first and second Republics started. It was the reckless and draconian misuse of government power as we are currently witnessing that caused the premature deaths of the first and second Republics. If care is not taken in handling both Fubara and Ugochinyere’s matters, including the imbroglio in the Lagos State House of Assembly, the country’s democracy is terminally endangered.
“We call on all those fanning the embers of violence and illegality to stop forthwith and toe the paths of constitutionality and the rule of law.
“We call on the international community to call all the dramatis personae causing the political commotions across the country to order with immediate effect or even consider imposing sanctions on them.”
