New Customs Boss Celebrates As Kebbi Command Rakes In N102 Million In One Month

The Customs Area Command in Kebbi State has in the month of February generated revenue to the tune of N102.17 million one month in office, of a new controller, a feet that suppas the previous year’s first quarter.
The State new Area Controller of Customs, Mr. Chidi Chukwumeziri Nwokorie who disclosed this Thursday at his maiden press conference with Journalists in Birnin-Kebbi stated that it is on important note that he commended his team of hard working officers who made various arrest and seizures that cumulated in generating this whooping sum in one month.
“It is exactly 42 days today that I took over the leadership of this Command, on that day, I made a commitment as one of our mandate to enhance our revenue generation and collection, I pleadge my support also to facilitate legitimate trade and promised also to tackle smuggling aggressively in every reasonable manner.
“For those in legitmate trade and business you really have a friend and supporter to support and facilitate every legitimate trade as demonstrated in the last few months and weeks.
“I, therefore, urged all our stakeholders and legitimate Traders to make the best use of these opportunities that our comptroller General has provided in advancing and enhancing your businesses as he want to elevate you all to ‘stakeowners, instead of just stakeholders” He said.
On the issue of revenue generation, the Customs boss revealed that despite the setback occasioned by the closure of the State big brother which is Samiya /Sebgana leaving us with only Kamba, the Command according to him the Command has stay afloat revenue wise.
Mr. Nwokorie explained that even when Trade was below expectation the Command was able to generate N13,378,002 within one month which is slightly better than what it was.
He pointed out that the seizures made during the peultimate months and weeks under review includes, 145 bales of used second hand clothes, 13,750 litres of petrol, 114 bags of foreign parboil rice 50kg each and 20 cartons of foreign cigarettes.
Others are, 70 Biggy Vanilla Wafer Bscuiy, already expired, 27 cartons of Subway (AA) Dry Battery already axpired and 40 Bags of foreign sugar of 50kg each, among others.
