Kebbi Govt Releases N3.5 Billion As Counterpart Funds To UBEC

Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris has approved the release of Three Billion, Five Hundred and Fifty-Four Million, Six Hundred and Forty-Two Thousand, Five Hundred and Eighty-Four Naira, Forty-Six Kobo (₦3,554,642,584.46) as the state’s counterpart funds for the 2024 Universal Basic Education (UBE) Matching Grant.

This was contained in a statement signed by Professor Sulaiman Khalid, Executive Chairman of the Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

According to him, the release of the funds by the State Government will enable Kebbi State Government to access equivalent amount from the Universal Basic Education Commission, thereby making the sum of Seven Billion, One Hundred and Nine million Two Hundred and Eighty Five Thousand,One Hundred and Sixty Eight – Naira, Ninety Two Kobo (₦7,109,285,168.92) available for another round of UBE Intervention projects.

 The projects to be executed include the construction of new classrooms, renovation of dilapidated ones, supply of furniture, and installation of water and sanitation facilities in basic education (primary and junior secondary) schools across the state.

The funds will also be used to provide perimeter fencing, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment, agricultural education tools, and sports facilities to enhance teaching and learning in our school environments.

The Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board expressed appreciation to His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, for his unwavering support to the board and his consistent commitment to improving education service delivery in Kebbi State.
