Lagos Legends Club Honours Surulere LG Chairman Suleiman Yusuf As Patron

The Executive Chairman of Surulere local government in Lagos State, Hon. Suleiman Yusuf, has been inducted and honoured as a patron of Lagos Legends Club (LLC), a group of retired foremost footballers, who played for several clubsides in the state, in their active playing days.

The well-attended event which held Thursday, inside the office of the council chairman, saw the convener of LLC, Engr. Waidi Akanni, who led the entourage of the former footballers, said the courtesy visit to the office of the youthful and amiable council boss was aimed to reestablish the importance of Surulere, as the renowned Sportscity, in the state.

“We are glad to be here with you and to honour you as a patron of the LLC. We know your antecedents as a former footballer and sports enthusiast, and we’re here also to give you our unalloyed support going forward and of course, for the benefits of the football and the youths, in particular,” Akanni, a former Super Eagles star player and also a former chairman of Lagos State Football Association, stated.

Spokesperson for LLC, Monday Kanu, on his part, promised that the members of LLC shall rally behind the local government boss in his efforts to improve the fortunes of sports and the youths in the local government.

Reacting to the honour and recognition bestowed on him, Hon. Suleiman Yusuf, expressed his happiness and gratitude to members of the LLC.

He recalled fond memories of his days as a footballer, who represented his secondary school at the famous Principals Cup.

The soft-spoken politician restated his commitment to the development and growth of the local government, even as he promised to partner with the LCC, on programmes and activities that would help take the youths off the streets.

Earlier, the convener of LLC, Akanni, revealed plans by the group to organise a U19 football tournament to be named after the council boss.

He added that the LLC, shall return with a giant trophy to be unveiled for the football tournament.
