Osun LG Allocation: PRONACO Cautions Osun PDP House Of Reps Caucus Over Attempt To Blackmail Tinubu

The Progressives NASS Caucus of Osun (PRONACO) has kicked against the attempt to blackmail President Bola Tinubu by Osun PDP House of Reps Caucus through underarm tactics on the local governments allocation.

PRONACO in a statement signed by a former National secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Iyiola Omisore and twenty-four others, said the offensive letter was sub-judice.

The group said “The attention of the Progressives NASS Caucus of Osun (PRONACO), a caucus of serving and former National Assembly members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to an Open letter to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR by the Osun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus in the House of Representatives, where the Legislators accused the Federal Government, the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation and the Ministry of Justice of engaging in illegality and partisanship.”

According to PRONACO, “the offensive open letter further delved into matters that are sub-judice, the issue being that of the legality or otherwise of the Local Government Election Conducted in Osun State on October 15, 2022.

“The latest of these cases being Suit No: SC/CV/379/2025 by Osun State Government against the Federal Government.

The group further stated that “it is pertinent to state here that in February 2025, the same PDP Caucus invited the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi SAN, to intervene in the legal logjam arising from the decision of the Court of Appeal.

“Suffice it is to say, that the opinion of the Attorney General of the Federation on the issue, in his response to the invitation, did not augur well with the PDP caucus of the House of Representatives and the Governor Ademola Adeleke led Administration in Osun.

“Curiously, and most noteworthy, is the fact that there is no appeal against the decision of the Court of Appeal under reference, whilst the PDP administration in Osun State and its House of Representatives members caucus continue to act in a manner inimical to the peace and security of the State.

“Sadly, this position held by the PDP in Osun State and the consequential faceoff it occasioned has led to loss of lives of loved ones and wanton destruction of property of innocent and law-abiding people of our dear State.

“This must not be encouraged or allowed. As members of the same Institution which our colleagues in the PDP now have the rare honour and privilege of belonging to, we are quite aware that the National Assembly as an institution has recognised conventional and official channels of communicating with the President, the Presidency and the Federal Government including all Ministries, Agencies and Parastatals (MDA’S) of the Federal Government.

“The Osun PDP Caucus in the National Assembly are expected to rise above partisan considerations and puerile sensationalism, especially at times like this, when the peace, security, development and wellbeing of the citizens and inhabitants of Osun State is being tested.

“We admonish them that their voice should be one that would engender peace, uphold the rule of law, respect for the 3 (Three) arms and 3 (Three) tiers of Government and the sanctity of the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria.

“On our part, and for the avoidance of doubt, we stand by the Rule of Law as espoused by our courts in the decisions so far rendered without embarking on a futile and reckless voyage of cherry-picking Court Judgments to obey or rearranging the hierarchy of our Courts to suit individual or partisan prejudices.

“We are confident that the Supreme Court will put to rest the vexed issue of who the lawful holders and occupants of the various Local Governments across Osun State should be.

“For the time being, whilst we await that decision of the APEX Court, the current tenure of the Council Chairmen and Councillors elected on October 15, 2022 should be accorded the constitutional respect and authority it deserves.

“Local Government Administration in Osun State must not be allowed to stall or suffer being the closest tier of Government to the People.

“Attempts to Blackmail the President or stampede the relevant MDA’s by deploying underarm tactics will not yield any positive result,” the statement added.
