Nigeria Army Celebrates 162 Anniversary, Holds Public Lectures For Students In Kebbi

The 1Battalion of the Nigeria Army at the weekend joined its counterparts across Nigeria to celebrates this year’s Army day celebration to mark its 162 years of its establishment as a fighting Force.
This year’s celebration with the ‘Theme professionally Responsive Solderng For a Succssive Military Operations.’ brought together Students of Army Day Secondary School and Students of ABI International School at the ABI Students Auditorium Hall.
In his speech at the occasion, the Comanding Officer (Rear), 1Battalion Birnin-Kebbi, Major Patrick A. Azubuine told the gathering that this year event is Unique as public lectures, awareness, senzitaizations etc. are engaged to add clarmour to the occasion.
Major Azubuine informed the gathering also that the choice of 5th July to celebrate the Army was chosen to remember the date in July, 1967, when the Nigeria Army fired its first shot to signaled the commencement of the three years old Nigeria Civil war.
“This year, the Nigeria Army is celebrating 162 years of its exisitence as a strong body created to provide defence for her teeming population since its establishment in 1863. The occasion is to celebrate the Army and to potrays it for what they stand for.
“The 30 months old civil war was fought to keep Nigeria as one, with a lot of Soldiers paying the Supreme prize, which shows that the Nigeria Army is committed to have us lived together as a Nation. The Army as a corporate body has come to wax stronger and this is what we are celebrating today,” he said.
He said further that this year celebration is being conducted when the Nigeria Army is still fighting various evils that is bedeviling our Nation at various levels.
With respect for the Nigeria Constittion and unwavering support for the Predident of the Fedral Republic of Nigeria.
Mrs Victoria Rueben, the Head Teacher of ABI International School commended the 1Battalion for organising the event in her School, describing it as very important which has brought awareness to the Students to like and learn about the Army.
