Stakeholders Warn Magic Stars Against False Alarm,Diversionary Antics

The last few weeks have seen the Nationwide League One receiving negative jibes and uncomplimentary remarks from club owners and stakeholders, as teams competing for qualification spots and those battling relegation have been accused of playing underhand games.

Expectedly, the organisers of the league came up with the canes to punish erring individuals and teams found culpable of attempts to bring the game to disrepute.

Unfortunately, most of their decisions have been overturned by the supreme football body in Nigeria, the NFF.

Now, most of the teams suspected of playing dirty are back in the fray.

They are now being seen and suspected as possible of conspirators in alleged attempts to sell out on the final day of the NLO playoffs ongoing in Ijebu Ode.

It is unfortunate that the accusations are coming from a team renowned for playing dirty and with reckless abandon.

The alleged potential bribery from the owners of Magic Stars and their co-travellers is aimed at turning the probing eyes of  the authorities and stakeholders from the renowned dirty and corrupt ways of Magic Stars who would attempt to do anything to gain promotion.

 That Magic Stars FC are leading the log on superior goals doesn’t guarantee them a sure ticket. They are crying wolf because Ikorodu City are billed to face bottom played Franceex United.

Football experts and stakeholders are not oblivious of the technical abilities of Ikorodu City to pick the sole ticket in the zone.

The National Coordinator of Friends Of Nigeria Sports, Chief Diprieye Thompson has called on all genuinely concerned stakeholders and investors to watch out for the unsavoury antics of Magic Stars, which stems of selfishness, desperation and reckless attempts to bring the beautiful game of football to disrepute and of of course, undermine the integrity of the Ogun State Referees Council  and the Nigeria Referees Association.

“We are not surprised that the Magic Stars are crying foul, when there is nothing to be afraid about. We watched the video of their match against Ikorodu City and the whole world saw the unsportsmanlike attitudes of the club owner as he made attempts to disrupt the game.In recent times, the management of Magic Stars are known for winning tickets to the NNL and only to turn around to sell off the slots. That’s their stock in trade.

“Members of FNS and stakeholders would be in Ijebu Ode to monitor the matches that would be played simultaneously at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium (Mainbowl & Practice Pitch A).”
