Rotary Club Of Ikeja Installs 58th President, Rtn. Kuburat Lawal

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Rotary Club of Ikeja has installed Rotarian Kuburat Lawal as its 58th President in a ceremony held at The Airport Hotel, Ikeja on Sunday. 

Rotn. Lawal, a Director in the Lagos State Public Service is the club’s second female president in 58 years, pledged to deepen community service, youth empowerment, and sustainable development during her tenure.

“Every responsibility I’ve undertaken; whether as Treasurer, Director, Rotary Foundation Chair, or Class Captain has been shaped by a collective vision for impact,” she said.

“This new Rotary Year is a fresh opportunity for deeper community engagement, youth empowerment, and inclusive growth.”

She highlighted projects such as the construction of a vocational training centre, ongoing support for maternal and child health, and youth development initiatives as key areas of focus. 

She stressed that the centre would be equipped with tools for trades such as hairdressing, fashion design, electrical installation, and catering, which symbolizes Rotary’s ethos of empowerment through skill-building.

The immediate past President, Rotn. Kayode Situ, in his welcome address, emphasized the continuity of Rotary’s mission.

He noted the club’s ongoing work at Ikeja Junior High School, particularly a vocational centre initiated during his tenure, which Lawal has committed to fully equip.

Guest speaker Olaniyi Yusuf, Managing Partner at Verraki Partners, called on Rotary to scale its impact by adopting clear, unifying goals like it did during the fight against polio.

He urged the club to grow its membership, operate at scale, and support Rotarians’ well-being.

District Governor for Rotary District 9111, Rotn. Henry congratulated Lawal and encouraged guests to support the Rotary Foundation or join Rotary’s global mission. 

The event concluded with fundraising to support the humanitarian activities of the Rotary with renewed pledges to uphold club’s values of service, leadership, and community transformation.
