Beware! Counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” Now In Circulation, Says NAFDAC

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned the general public over counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachets currently circulating in Nigeria.

NAFDAC in a statement issued on August 22, 2025, said that the Marketing Authorisation Holder and Manufacturer, Promasidor Nigeria Ltd, stopped producing Cowbell “Our Milk” in September 2023, replacing it with Cowbell “Our Creamy Goodness”.

The counterfeit sachets mimic the discontinued “Our Milk” packaging but are unauthorised, unapproved, and not manufactured by Promasidor.

According to NAFDAC, the fake products illegally bear the brand name, NAFDAC registration number, and packaging design, putting unsuspecting consumers at risk.

The agency warned that consumption of counterfeit milk poses serious health hazards, including exposure to toxic chemicals, unapproved additives, or diluted ingredients.

Vulnerable groups such as infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly are particularly at risk. Health risks may include foodborne illnesses, allergic reactions, organ damage, and in severe cases, death.Counterfeit Product Details:

Product Name: Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachet

NAFDAC urged healthcare professionals and consumers to report any suspicious sales of substandard or counterfeit food products.

Reports can be made at the nearest NAFDAC office, via 0800-162-3322, or by email to sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng.
