Awele Elumelu: Not The ‘Baby Girl Life.’ A real Role Model For Young Girls
At 55, a mother of seven, a medical doctor, CEO, and wife of one of Africa’s wealthiest men, Dr. Awele Elumelu, could have chosen a life of ease. Instead, she just completed her 7th marathon in Sydney, Australia, a choice of discipline, sweat, sacrifice, and uncommon achievement.
She rejects the lure of wealth without work and the seduction of a sedentary life. She embodies resilience, discipline, and purpose. She is the example I wish to promote, not the glittering idols of conspicuous consumption or the lazy celebrants of the so-called “baby girl life.”
Her story inspires me to lace up again and attempt another marathon.
