Malami’s Allegation Of Importation Of Arms, Ammunition, Mercenaries Into Kebbi Baseless- Idris

From Ayodele Ajoge, Birnin-Kebbi

The attention of well-meaning Nigerians and the good people of Kebbi State has been drawn to a petition authored by former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN, alleging the importation of thugs, foreign mercenaries, and clandestine arms into Kebbi State, as his figment of his imagination and that of his chorhorts.

In a press statement from the office of the Chief Press Secretary to the  Governor Armed Idris expressed that ordinarily, such laughable allegations do not deserve a response, adding that the petition has been mischievously circulated in the media to mislead unsuspecting members of the public, it is important to set the record straight.

He pointed out that the Lordpetition is nothing but a political diatribe laced with speculation without credible evidence to back the weighty allegations adding that neither the Nigerian Police, the DSS, Immigration, nor any other security agency has reported the so-called “mercenary influx” into Kebbi.

To allege that a sitting governor is in league with terrorist elements is not only reckless but also an insult to the intelligence of Nigerians. This is a dangerous propaganda tool, deployed solely to tarnish reputations and heat up the Kebbi State politics.

The statement noted that the so-called “September 1 attack” cited in the petition exists only in Malami’s imagination. No official complaint was lodged with the Police or DSS, no eyewitnesses, No arrests,  No investigations, Yet it is conveniently packaged as the linchpin of a grand conspiracy theory.

The statement also noted that it was an attempt to brand Governor Idris as a sponsor of thuggery is ironic.

“Kebbi people know too well the political culture Malami himself nurtured in his years of influence noting that the petition is simply a case of projection, accusing others of what one is guilty of.

”Having failed to gain atraction as a political player under the ADC, Malami is now clutching at straws, using fear-mongering to reinsert himself into relevance. His petition is a desperate cry for attention, not a serious security alert.

”Kebbi State under Governor Nasir Idris remains peaceful, focused, and committed to development. Our borders are under constant vigilance by security operatives and our people reject any attempt to drag them into needless alarmism.

”We urge the public to disregard this baseless petition and remain assured that Kebbi will not be destabilized by the desperate antics of fading politicians.” The statement read.
