65th Independence Anniversary: Nigeria Crumbling Under APC- CUPP

As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence anniversary today October 1, 2025, the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, has raised the alarm that rather than celebrating, Nigerians are “living in fear of the unknown on a daily basis”.

The opposition Coalition’s Press Release signed by its national Spokesperson, Comrade Mark Adebayo, in Abuja came down heavily on the ruling APC as “lacking direction and the capacity for proper leadership”.

“It is with a heavy heart that we address Nigerians on this occasion of the 65th independence anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Unfortunately, it is an anniversary without celebration due to the atrocious economic and security conditions of the country as orchestrated by the visionless administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“Instead of rolling out the drums in collective celebration, it is tears rolling down the cheeks of an overwhelming majority of Nigerians who bear the unbearably harsh economic conditions daily inflicted by the current inept government.”The space for celebration is choked because Nigerians are living in fear of the unknown on a daily basis. Even the government cannot pretend to be celebrating as it had to cancel its already planned public activities to celebrate the landmark date.

“The last ten years of the APC administration have been filled with aggressive retrogression and unconscionable leadership faux pas that have been killing the country by devastating installments. The country is literally crumbling under the weight of APC’s bad leadership.

“This trajectory of tragedies is predicated on the reality of the APC lacking direction and the capacity for proper leadership. They have inflicted problems on the country for which they lack the capacity to resolve. They have owned up, through one of their founding fathers, that they imported bandits and insurgents into the country in order to win the 2015 presidential election. These bandits have turned Nigeria into a rapidly failing state by their daily and deadly onslaughts against Nigerians.

“2027 presents another opportunity for Nigerians to choose a new president and other public office holders. It is an opportunity to end hunger, insecurity, and bad leadership. Nigerians must seize this opportunity to liberate Nigeria from the disastrous stranglehold of the APC by voting a capable, credible, humane, and patriotic presidential candidate with an unblemished integrity into power in 2027. The APC affliction must not be allowed to continue beyond 2027 at all levels. For the lack of a better way to put it, CUPP wishes Nigerians a happy 65th anniversary”, the Press Release concluded.
