Jakande Partners With Eko Club Atlanta To Deliver Medical Outreach To Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye, Declares Free Health Services in all PHCs
In a commendable display of international collaboration and community dedication, Hon. Seyi Jakande, Executive Chairman of the Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), joined forces with Eko Club Atlanta to launch a comprehensive medical service which cut across medical consultation, health screening ,medication distribution, cervical and prostate screening, dental and eye examination with free glasses in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye.
The initiative, held on Monday, Nov 3, at the Council’s Secretariat, provided essential healthcare services to residents, showcasing a commitment to health and well-being in the community.
The outreach involved a team of experienced medical professionals from the USA, including doctors, pharmacists, dentists, and specialists in ophthalmology and prostate health.
During the launch, Hon. Jakande emphasized the transformative nature of the outreach, stating, “This initiative is a vital step towards building a healthier and informed society. We must empower our residents to recognize and address potential health issues early, promoting preventive care as a cornerstone of community well-being.”
He urged all attendees to take advantage of the services being offered, noting the outreach’s alignment with his administration’s HEWA agenda, which prioritizes health and accessible healthcare for all.
In addressing the press, Jakande promised to take the medical outreach to other members of the community who couldn’t benefit at the event. He hinted on extending it to all the 9 Wards of the LCDA in form of a medical tourism.
The event was not only a display of healthcare provision but also a celebration of community spirit, as Hon. Jakande inferred that proactive governance is about bringing care directly to residents rather than waiting for them to seek healthcare abroad. He likewise shared food items to the elderly people who participated at the medical outreach.
Hon. Wunmi Isiotan, Chairperson of the Medical Outreach and representative of Eko Club Atlanta, echoed Jakande’s sentiments, expressing gratitude for the collaboration aimed at improving healthcare delivery. “We are committed to bridging healthcare gaps and making a real difference in people’s lives,” she said, outlining the outreach’s schedule, which will see services extended to other localities in Lagos.
Beneficiaries praised the initiative, with community members expressing their appreciation for the free medical services. Mrs. Abiodun Adebayo, a trader, stated, “We’re so grateful to Hon. Jakande and Eko Club Atlanta for this outreach. Many of us couldn’t afford these tests elsewhere, and this is truly a blessing.” Other residents echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in promoting health awareness and accessibility.
