CUPP Raises Alarm Over Police Invasion Of Ikenga Ugochinyere’s Reception Venue ….Says Uzodinma Behind Attack

THE Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, has raised ALARM over what it described as “unwarranted aggression and premeditated preoccupation of the Imo State government to take Honorable Ikenga out of circulation”.

In a Press Release issued by CUPP’s National Spokesperson, Comrade Mark Adebayo, this Tuesday in Abuja, CUPP claims that the venue of a pre-scheduled grand reception being organised the constituents of Ideato Federal Constituency in honor of the Honorable member representing the Constituency, Honorable Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere on Tuesday December 23, 2025, was cordonned off by the Police and other security agencies.

The organizers were said to have secured a venue for the grand reception and had made all preparations for the event.

CUPP alleges that as time for the event got close, a cimbined team of well armed policemen and other security agents took over the and prevented anyone from accessing the venue.

“We condemn these unwarranted aggression and premeditated preoccupation of the Imo State government to take Honorable Ikenga out of circulation at all costs. When has it become a crime for constituents to organize a grand reception for a performing and competent public office holder? Honorable Ikenga is very popular among his people and remains, arguably, the most popular lawmaker from Imo State, not by fiat, but by his unidirectional commitment to the welfare, security, and development of his people and Constituency.

“In appreciation of his laudable achievements and devotion to his duties as a lawmaker, his people felt that he should be celebrated. For some strange reasons, this didn’t go down well with the Imo State government because they feel threatened by the incredible performance records of Honorable Ikenga and his popularity far beyond his immediate Constituency in Imo State.

“As time for the event that was already scheduled to hold today neared, suddenly some armed policemen and other security agents were seen surrounding the venue with a view to disrupt the event. Under the Nigerian constitutional democracy, Nigerians have a right to freedom of peaceful assembly and no security agency has the authority to curtail such constitutionally guaranteed right.

“We call on the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egberokun, to call his men to order to avoid being used as antidemocratic goons to trample on the basic democratic principles that guarantee the seamless workings of a nation. Barely three years ago, the same Imo State government was heavily involved in the violent attempts made on the life of Honorable Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere that led to the killing of some of his supporters, family members and deadly arson. Should anything unbecoming happen to Honorable Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, Nigerians should hold the Imo State government under Governor Hope Uzodinma responsible.

“We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately call Mr. Hope Uzodinma to order over his obsession with constant attacks on Honorable Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere. CUPP will not stand idly by and watch Honorable Ikenga taken out of circulation as it is clearly the intention of his political enemies in the Imo State government house”.
