Joining APC Won’t Guarantee Your Second Term, Wike Tells Fubara
Nyesom Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has declared to his godson and Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara that joining the ruling All Progressives Congress would not guarantee his second term.
Speaking at a news conference in Port Harcourt on Monday, the Minister maintained that politics is about trust.
Though, he stated it at the reception organised for him yesterday in Port Harcourt that ‘ agreement is agreements’, indirectly referring to how Fubara had earlier breached what was agreed upon, the FCT Minister reiterated it at the news conference.
He said: ” We supported President Bola Tinubu when it was difficult to do so. All those shouting ‘On your mandate’ now, it won’t guarantee their second term”.
Wike said the governor must earn the trust of the people, adding that joining the APC with fanfare is not an indication that he’s the leader of the Party in the state.
” What’s 001? In Lagos State who is the leader of the party? To every rule there’s always an exception. Moreover, there’s nothing like card 001. You register at your own ward, but you must earn the trust of the people.
” If you can build road and other infrastructure, but cannot work with your lawmakers. Where does that lead you?”
According to him, ” every politics is local and no amount of money pushed into the system will mater when the time comes,” he added.
