AGC 2025:CDHR Re- Elects Debo Adeniran, New Officers
The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) on Saturday 24th January 2026, concluded its highly anticipated Annual General Conference (AGC), and it was a resounding success.
Delegates from across Nigeria converged on Maridom Palace Hotel in Ogun State, united in their determination to revitalize the organization and propel it forward.
The conference was a testament to the enduring legacy of Comrade Debo Adeniran, the National President of CDHR, whose indefatigable resilience and diligence have been the driving force behind the organization’s continued relevance.
Under his leadership, CDHR has remained steadfast in its commitment to promoting human rights, democracy, and social justice.

The AGC saw the election of a new set of national executives, with Debo Adeniran re-elected as President, alongside Godwin Anyebe as Vice President, Deji Adebowale as General Secretary, and other talented individuals who will steer the organization’s affairs for the next tenure.
The conference was marked by a palpable sense of purpose and camaraderie, as members from diverse backgrounds came together to chart a new course for the group.
The event was a clear demonstration of the organization’s resolute commitment to its core values and its determination to remain a beacon of hope for the marginalized and oppressed.
Olasupo Ojo, top legal professional and former President of CDHR, expressed delight at the turnout of members for the conference and charged participants to put more effort into educating Nigerians about their rights.
According to him, a people bereft of their rights under the laws of the land will be in the dark and may easily have their rights trampled upon without notice.
“I would have missed something I can never regain in life if I’ve failed to honour this invitation. For the first time in a long time, I’m seeing the faces of old, committed compatriots in the struggle, coming together under the same roof for the purpose of charting a good course for our country.
“I will implore us to persevere in human rights education in our respective branches, to spread knowledge of people’s and human rights across to Nigerians so that there will be sanity in our country,” he said.
And as CDHR embarks on this new chapter, it is clear that Adeniran’s leadership will continue to be the guiding force behind the organization’s success.
His vision, passion, and dedication to human rights have inspired a new generation of activists and will undoubtedly propel CDHR to even greater heights.
