Group Calls For Technology-Driven Approach To Ensure Flawless 2027 Elections

Ms Mercy Ehi Ebute the Executive Director of Sustainable Initiative for Nurturing Growth (SING) has emphasized the need for a technology-driven approach to guarantee a smooth and credible 2027 general election.

In a statement, Ms Mercy Ehi Ebute called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders to prioritize the adoption of innovative technologies to enhance the electoral process.

“The use of technology is no longer a luxury, but a necessity in ensuring the integrity and transparency of the electoral process,” she said.

She highlighted the importance of leveraging technologies such as biometric voter registration, electronic voting machines, and real-time results transmission to eliminate electoral malpractices and ensure accurate results.

“These technologies have been successfully deployed in various countries, and Nigeria can learn from these examples,” she noted.

She also stressed the need for robust cybersecurity measures to protect electoral systems from cyber threats.

“The integrity of the electoral process is paramount, and SING urges INEC to take all necessary steps to safeguard the process,” SING added.

Lastly, Ms Ebute reiterated SING’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at promoting credible elections and strengthening democracy in Nigeria.

“We believe that technology has the power to transform the electoral process, and we urge all stakeholders to join us in this call for a technology-driven approach to the 2027 elections,”
