Susan Ekpoh Demands Retraction Of Misleading Report On Gateway Airport
Nigerian corporate pilot, Captain Susan Ekpoh, has formally demanded the immediate withdrawal of an article published by Apple Bite International Magazine, alleging that the publication misrepresented her personal social media post regarding a landing at Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport in Ogun State.
Captain Ekpoh clarified that her post, made on February 21, 2026, was a reflection of her personal flying experience upon landing at the airport.
She stressed that it was neither a political critique nor a regulatory assessment, and did not constitute commentary on the Ogun State Government or aviation authorities.
The article in question, titled “Nigerian Pilot Faults Dapo Abiodun’s $800m Gateway International Airport, Says Runway Undulates,” reportedly attributed statements to her that she insists she never made.
According to her legal representatives, the publication suggested that she questioned the airport’s certification standards and publicly criticized the state government’s aviation project—claims she strongly denies.
The airport referenced in the report is the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport in Ogun State.
Through her counsel, Itoro J. Ekanem of Henzel & Whitaker SCN, Captain Ekpoh has formally demanded: • Immediate removal of the article and all related content across digital platforms; • Publication of a clear clarification stating that her original post reflected a personal flying experience and did not amount to a professional indictment of the airport, the government, or regulatory authorities.
Her legal team has issued a 24-hour compliance notice, warning that failure to retract and clarify the publication may result in court action seeking damages, injunctive relief, and a mandatory public retraction.
Captain Ekpoh reiterated her position, stating:
“My social media post was meant to share insights from my flying experience, not to serve as political commentary or question the integrity of state projects or regulators.”
The development underscores the importance of accurate reporting, careful attribution, and responsible contextualization when referencing professional expertise—particularly in matters touching on aviation infrastructure and public policy.
