FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers:NBBF Charges D’Tigress To Remain Focused, After 70-37 Annihilation Of Colombia

Nigeria senior women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, Wednesday, annihilated Colombia 70-37, in its opening game at the ongoing FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers taking place in Lyon-Villeurbanne, France. 

It was a dominant display by the African champions, who showed remarkable improvements in all aspects of their game. Showing depth and defensive intensity, dominating the tempo, throughout the game. 

 Victoria Macaulay, who came from the bench made a strong impact scoring 13 points on five-of-six shooting and grabbing six rebounds in just over 14 minutes, to win the TISSOT player of the game.

 Ahead of the team’s second game of the tournament against Korea, which comes up today (Thursday), President of Nigeria Basketball Federation, Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, urges the Rena Wakama led team to remain focused and domineering, as the world of basketball are no longer oblivious of the immense talents and potentials of D’Tigress.

He also spoke on the continued wide-ranging efforts of the NBBF to improve the fortunes of the game in the country, which included the recent sponsorship deals with highly regarded XEJet as the travel and logistics partner of the team, and world’s leading sportswear outfit, Adidas.
