Stop The Rumour: Hon. Adedayo Didn’t Divert Apapa Projects To Kwara
Fresh facts have emerged countering allegations that the member representing Apapa Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Samuel Adesola Adedayo, diverted constituency projects to Kwara State, describing the claims as misleading and politically motivated.
The controversy had trailed reports suggesting that the lawmaker facilitated the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State his hometown at the expense of his Lagos constituency.
However, sources familiar with the legislative process have clarified that Hon. Adedayo was not responsible for the siting of the medical facility in Kwara.
According to the sources, the decision did not originate from the Apapa lawmaker but was handled at the committee level, where the Vice Chairman reportedly a medical professional played a key role in the process.
They further explained that Lagos State already hosts a considerable number of Federal Medical Centres, a factor that often influences the approval of additional facilities within the state under federal allocation considerations.
“It is incorrect to say Hon. Adedayo diverted any project. He neither moved nor influenced the siting of the medical centre in Kwara. The process was beyond his sole control,” a source said.
The sources also dismissed claims that the lawmaker has failed to deliver on his mandate, insisting that he has executed several constituency interventions since assuming office.
These include distribution of palliative materials to residents during periods of economic hardship, empowerment initiatives targeted at traders and small business owners, and facilitation of community focused development projects within Apapa.
Observers note that the allegations may not be unconnected with the approaching election cycle, suggesting that political opponents could be attempting to discredit the lawmaker ahead of future contests.
“There is a pattern of misinformation whenever elections draw near. This appears to be one of such attempts to damage his reputation,” another source added.
Despite the controversy, supporters of the lawmaker maintain that Hon. Adedayo remains focused on delivering his legislative responsibilities and constituency development, urging the public to rely on verified information rather than unsubstantiated claims.
