Borno Attacks: Musa Kida Raises A Cry For Peace

The Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, has delivered a deeply emotional message following a series of devastating attacks across Borno State, describing the situation as heartbreaking and calling for an urgent end to the violence.
In a statement marked by grief and deep concern, Kida reflected on the recent wave of attacks that have shaken communities across the state. He lamented that during the holy month of Ramadan, a time meant for peace, prayer, and togetherness, tragedy struck as explosions hit populated areas while residents gathered to break their fast, turning moments of worship into scenes of sorrow.
He noted that the loss of lives and the scale of destruction have left families devastated. Among the painful accounts, he highlighted the story of a father who lost four children in a single incident, describing it as a loss that words cannot adequately capture. Across Borno, many homes now carry silence where joy once lived.
The violence also claimed the lives of security personnel, including officers of the Nigeria Police Force and gallant troops of the Nigerian Army who were on the frontlines defending the people. Kida paid glowing tribute to their courage and sacrifice, stating that their commitment continues to stand as a shield between terror and innocent lives.
He expressed profound sorrow over the killing of a young girl inside her home, noting that her death reflects the painful reality that even the most vulnerable are no longer spared. According to him, such tragedies deepen the collective grief of the people and underline the urgency of ending the violence.
Condemning the attacks in strong terms, Kida described them as senseless acts that have brought untold suffering to the land, stressing that no cause can justify the taking of innocent lives or the destruction of communities.
At the same time, he extended heartfelt appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, acknowledging his continued leadership and commitment to restoring peace in the region. He also commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their resilience, bravery, and sacrifices in the ongoing fight against insecurity.
Kida further praised the Borno State Government under Governor Babagana Zulum for its relentless efforts in supporting affected communities, rebuilding infrastructure, and standing firmly with the people during these difficult times. He noted that such leadership has provided hope even in the face of overwhelming challenges.
While condemning the violence, Kida made a solemn appeal to those involved to reconsider their actions, urging them to reflect on the pain being inflicted on their own people and to choose a path that leads to peace rather than destruction.
He called on the people of Borno to remain united, emphasizing that this is a time for solidarity, compassion, and collective resolve. According to him, supporting victims, caring for displaced persons, and working together toward rebuilding are essential steps in healing the land.
Despite the deep pain, Kida expressed hope that Borno will rise again.He stressed that the resilience of its people, combined with the continued efforts of government and security forces, can pave the way for lasting peace.
