Adebayo To INEC: ‘Technical Glitches’ In 2027 Will Be Treated As Treason

ABUJA, NIGERIA — As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, Prince Adewole Adebayo, the 2027 presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has issued a fierce warning to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declaring that any technical failures during the upcoming general elections will be treated as a deliberate act of treason [civics].

In a powerful anniversary press statement released on October 1, 2026, by the Adewole Adebayo-Bugaje Presidential Campaign, the opposition leader promised to completely eradicate poverty and insecurity within four years if elected. However, he stressed that achieving this turnaround depends entirely on the electorate’s willingness to aggressively resist vote trading and election rigging.

“History has shown us that when you steal the vote, you steal the destiny of the nation,” Adebayo stated, linking current economic hardships, broken hospitals, and crumbling schools directly to historical electoral fraud.

Adebayo launched a scathing critique against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), characterizing its administration as a “civilian autocracy masquerading as a republic.” He accused the ruling party of deploying economic policies devoid of human empathy and deliberately weaponizing poverty to buy voters cheaply at polling booths.

Looking ahead to the 2027 polls, the SDP candidate directed his sharpest remarks toward the electoral umpire. Reflecting on past controversies surrounding electronic transmission, Adebayo made it clear that excuses will no longer be tolerated.

“An excuse of a ‘technical glitch’ by INEC in 2027 will be totally unacceptable,” Adebayo warned, noting that billions of Naira have been allocated for technology. “We will not accept the deliberate shutdown of results viewing portals, nor will we tolerate sudden electronic failures that only seem to occur when the ruling party is losing.”

The statement concluded with a rallying cry from the campaign’s media chief, Comrade Mark Adebayo, urging Nigerians to protect their polling units and refuse to sell their votes for short-term relief. “Do not sell your vote for a morsel of bread today only to suffer for the next four years,” the statement urged.
