Kebbi Customs Generate N127.31 Million In April

The Kebbi State Customs Command has steadily continue to generate its core mandate of revenue generation as the Command in the month of April generated N127,364,100. 00, into the covers of the Federal government.
Area Controller of Customs in the State, Dr. Ben. Oramalugo who disclosed this at a press Conference at the Command Headquarters in Birnin-Kebbi said his Command was able to seized items worth N71.287 within this period under review.
These successes recorded according to him were largely achieved through constant vigilance and intelligence gathering by the Officers and men of the Command.
He explained that through stop and search, the Officers of the Command were able to intercept a truck load of donkey skins and meat along Bunza/Kamba axis, adding that while conveying the seized items to the Command headquarter in Birnin-Kebbi for further investigation, some undesirable elements from the village of Bunza attack his men.
The Cutoms boss explained further that, these bad elements broke the windscreen of two of its patrol vehicles, forcing the Officers to retreats and later called for reinforcement from the Army.
Pointing out that, before the arrival of the army, the bandits manage to whisk away the trucks to nearby bushes but the trucks and its contents were able to be found at different locations.
The Comptroller cited the section 63 (b) of Customs and excise Management Act (CEMA) Cap C45 LFN, 2004 that gives the Nigeria Customs the power to confiscate goods about to be exported in contravention to any law such as illegal trade of endangering species such as donkeys, pangolin among others.
“Items seized including, one Volvo truck (6 tyres) fully loaded with 212 big size sacks and 202 small size sacks of donkey meat/skins, four used vehicles comprising two Toyota Camry 2013 and two used Honda Jazz 2005, 55 bales of second hand clothes”.
Others are, 4,925 litter of PMS, 13 bags of foreign parboil rice, 5 legs of vegetable oil and one blue Volvo truck (6 tyres) and one Toyota Corolla ash colour as means of conveyance.
