Yahaya Adoza Bello: Finishing Well, Finishing Strong
For Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, the executive governor of Kogi state, politics is a service to humanity.
And this he has done conscientiously since January 27, 2016 when he was sworn-in as the Executive Governor of Kogi state.
According to Herbert Spencer’s defination of education as ” complete living”, Governor Bello has done more than enough to the yearnings and aspirations of Kogites.
From the establishment of Kogi state University, Kabba, and the annual payment of SSCE, NECO and JAMB fees of the pupils to cushion the effect of the downturn in Nigeria’s economic situation on the parents , Governor Bello has given education a top priority.
At the matriculation of the first set of Kogi state University, Kabba, Governor Bello gave himself a thumb as “being fulfilled”.
He recently paid one hundred and fifteen million naira only (N115,000,000,00) for 15,033 students in public schools to cover JAMB registration forms.
He has also allowed the dictum that ‘health is wealth ‘ to guide his philosophy of healthcare and well-being of Kogites.
The Kogi Reference Hospital in Lokoja has become a truly reference point.
Recently, an anasthesiologist has this to say about Governor Bello’s investment in healthcare;
“His Excellency Alhaji (Dr) Yahaya Adoza Bello, this image is not taken from USA, ENGLAND, PARIS OR INDIA. “This is REFERENCE HOSPITAL OKENE, GYB STANDARD.
“Myself, Dr Baoku Olusola, an anasthesiologist and a team of surgeons successfully did seven surgeries within eight hours using sophisticated, world class equipments, tiltable electronic remote controlled operating tables, standard overhead LED operating lights, facilities for telemedicine, patients and fluid warmers, standard Dua vaporizer anasthesia machine, Electro surgical unit under perfect lightnings.
“The shortest intraoperative transition between patients that have ever seen, no loss of power throughout, excellent staff coordination and patient satisfaction in line with international best practice.
“We are compelled to commend your Excellency for this state of the art hospital. We took time to also visit the new roads under construction, the huge secondary school edifice and the Nursing hostel. You are indeed a visionary and a great leader. Your legacy of infrastructures cutting across Health , Education and many sectors will last for generations and your name will never be forgotten in this State till the end of time.”
From Education, Healthcare and Infrastructure, Governor Bello has distinguished himself.
The state has also enjoyed peace under his watch.
In a country that the opposition hardly seen anything worthwhile about their competitors, it’s therefore, heartwarming that Governor Bello’s predecessor, Captain Idris Wada was full of praise for his successors achievements which he described as ‘notable achievements and sterling stewardship’.
Another turning point in Governor Bello’s administration is Women and youth inclusionHe ensured that women and youth political inclusiveness is given a top priority.
He ensured that in the last council election, all the vice chairmen were women.
He followed it up by ensuring that at least each council has three female councilors – one of whom were appointed as Council Leader.
Also, most of those appointed into his cabinet are youths.
Another remarkable thing about Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello’s tenure is finishing well and finishing strong; as he will be handing over to a worthy successor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in the next few days to continue from where he stopped.
