APC Guber Ticket: Don’t Shortchange Ondo South With Aiyedatiwa’s Single Term, Group Warns

Indigenes of Ondo South Senatorial Districts under the aegis of the Vanguard for Ondo South Development (VOSD), has warned members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against sponsoring an aspirant that can only spend a single term.

The Chairman of the group, Chief Solomon Arikawe, on Thursday, said this in Ore, Odigbo local government area of the state while addressing newsmen.

“The south senatorial district has not been so fortunate with the leadership of the state despite being the goose that lays the golden eggs. The resources mainly come from this zone, yet the power sharing formula has not really favoured the south.

“With Aiyedatiwa, the situation of the south senatorial district cannot get any better. He himself is supposed to place the interest of the south above personal interest but he is rather desperate. The last time we had a governor in the south in governor Agagu, the Central Senatorial district truncated The tenure with governor Mimiko. Now the same central is pretending to like us by supporting an aspirant who can only run for a single term.

“Arikawe, who warned that the south may not get another chance at governance until after another 16 years, advise the people of the southern senatorial district to support an aspirant that can govern the state for 8 years so that the situation of the south can comparably improve.

He noted, “Since Mimiko era, governors in the state have been concentrating development in their regions and home towns. Go to Ondo town and Owo and see the relative advantage their son’s have given them ahead of other regions. Whereas, no town in the entire south has the level of socioeconomic development that are available in the said places. The south has no light, no good roads, and other basic amenities. We must not play into the hands of those who do not wish the south well by supporting a single term aspirant.”
