Otitolaye Charges Members To Keep Striving Towards Achieving PWYP Objectives 

 The National Coordinator of PWYP-Nigeria, Comrade Taiwo Otitolaye, has tasked all members of the coalition to keep striving towards achieving the aims and objectives of the organisation. 

Otitolaye said this at the Zonal review meeting of the South West Zone held in Lagos on Friday as part of strategies to move the coalition forward in the zone. 

He called on all members to step up efforts  to ensure transparency in extractive industry, particularly relating to payment, receipt and use of revenues from oil, gas and mining industries. 

Otitolaye said; “PWYP Nigeria has been repositioned and we have to step up our efforts to ensure that we follow up with development in the extractive industry, especially the heightened abysmal level of corruption in the oil and gas sector which has direct negative consequences on the rate of hunger, poverty and low quality of life in Nigeria today.

“Our natural resources must benefit the mass of the population and Host Communities. We must collectively mobilize, educate, organize and work together to deliver on our mandate”, Otitolaye stated. 

The Zonal Coordinator, Mrs Mary Ajayi who presided over the meeting urged PWYP coordinators in the South West state of Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo Ekiti and Lagos to intensify efforts in making the coalition stronger in their respective states. 

She said “I wish to commend all our state coordinators for their efforts in their respective states and I also wish to encourage them to do more by ensuring that PWYP is strong in all the six states in this zone”. 

The Oyo State Coordinator of PWYP who is also a member of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) committee, Dr Onipede Kayode Joseph on behalf of the zone lauded the National Coordinator and the Zonal Coordinator for their efforts in moving the organisation to greater heights. 

Other coordinators include Hameed Oyegbade, Osun State, Kolawole Ekanoye, Ogun state, Agbana Abimbola, Ekiti State, Olusegun Fatoki, Lagos state and Franklin Oloniju, Ondo State.
