Sulaimon Vs Lagos Assembly:APC Move To Curtail Obasa’s Excesses
” Obasa’s cup is full. If he could boycott the meeting to canvass support for President Tinubu, then he’s on his own”
The All Progressives Congress, Lagos State chapter seems to have been fed up with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Mudashiru Obasa, who’s always at a loggerheads with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Despite overtures and Governor Sanwo-Olu’s gentlemanly posture, Obasa has continued to defy him.

According to the sources within Alausa, Obasa has always treated the governor with disdain.
If he’s not summoning his aides over what could be discussed and resolved internally without making any fuss about it, he would be turning down his nominees on filmsy excuses that they’re not Lagosians.
During the last screening exercise of Sanwo-Olu’s commissioner nominees, some were represented after much discussion.
Obasa was, however, unyielding on a few of them.
One of the technocrats who had worked closely with Governor Sanwo-Olu when they were in the banking sector was Sam Egube.
All entrities to Obasa to reconsider him fell on deaf ears.
Besides, Obasa was always in the habit of not, according to the governor, the respect due for his office.
He hardly attends any state function organised by Sanwo-Olu.
The matter got to a level that the leader of Governors Advisory Council, Chief Tajudeen Olusi, had to caution Obasa when he referred to Governor Sanwo-Olu as ‘a colleague’. He is your leader, not a colleague,’ Chief Olusi countered.
The Octogenarian APC leader was said to have warned Obasa to always accord Sanwo-Olu the respect his office deserves.
The matter got to a head last week Saturday at Eko Hotels when Obasa and all his colleagues shun the southwest meeting convened by Governor Sanwo-Olu to drum support for President Bola Tinubu.
Chief Olusi and other leaders in Lagos State were surprised that Obasa did not attend nor send representatives, and neither of the 39 fellow lawmakers from the Lagos Assembly was there.
And on Monday when Obasa and his colleagues slammed an indefinite suspension on the chairman of Alimosho Local Government Area, Hon Jelili Sulaimon, despite the Supreme Court judgement that granted the 774 loçal governments in Nigeria autonomy, the APC leaders in the state felt the Speaker was overreaching himself and arrogating to the house the power they lack.
Apart from the chairman who called the bluff of the Lagos Assembly, and accused Obasa of victimising him for his rèfusal to hand over Iyana-Ipaja Market to his ‘enforcer’ known as Deji Ejigbadero, Alimosho APC apex leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo has accused the Obasa led house of breaching the constitution by the purported suspension of Sulaimon.
As the source puts it, ” Obasa’s cup is full. If he could boycott the meeting to canvass support for President Tinubu, then he’s on his own. You’ll recall that Sulaimon’s deputy was given a letter to resume as chairman, but before he could act on the order, another letter was written, telling the Vice Chairman to await Governor Sanwo-Olu’s ratification of the Lagos Assembly resolution. As it stands now, Obasa’s fate is hanging in the balance for having the effrontery to defy our reverred leader, President Tinubu,” said a source who craves anonymity.
