Osun Women’s Football League Reaches Climax: Igbajo United Ladies, Segun Akeju Babes Battle For Glory
The Osun Women’s Football League is reaching its thrilling conclusion this Saturday, October 12th, at the Osogbo City Stadium.
The electrifying finale would be between Igbajo United Ladies and Segun Akeju Babes, while Ila Oragun Babes and Hamzainab Ladies battle it out for third place.
Igbajo United Ladies have been on fire, with consecutive victories in their first three games.
They defeated Ila Oragun Babes 3-0, Ijesa Queens 2-0, and Ijesa Warrioress 3-0 .
Meanwhile, Segun Akeju Babes have also shown impressive form, beating Abiola Babes 2-0, Oyeladeniran Babes 1-0, and Hamzainab Ladies 2-0.
The excitement is building, and the presence of distinguished guests will add to the prestige of the event.
Expected attendees include the Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Sports, Prince Kola Adewusi, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly Hon. Adewale Egbedun, Chairman House Committee On Sports, Hon. Jeremiah Adeyeye, Osun State House of Assembly Member from Ila State Constituency, Hon. Dhikirullah Bajepade, Commissioner for Women affairs, Hon. Ayo Awolowo and many other top dignitaries.
Osun Football Association Chairman, Mayor Sola Fanawopo praised the exemplary sportsmanship displayed by all participating teams in the Osun Women’s Football League.
He also expressed gratitude to the sponsors who contributed to the league’s success.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who made this initiative possible,” Fanawopo said.
“This league has inspired numerous young girls, and we’re confident it will lead to increased participation in football among the girl-child.
“I also want to appreciate the organising committee headed by Hon. Rawlings Oyebayo for working so hard all through to make this even a huge success, Looking ahead, Fanawopo emphasized the Osun FA’s commitment to excellence.
“We’re dedicated to achieving even greater heights next season, building on this year’s success.”
The final game would come up by 2:30pm, while the third place game is by 1pm.
