Kebbi Customs Fete 1,700 Pupils Of Emirate Primary School

No fewer than 1.700 Primary school Pupils of Gwandu Emirate Primary School in Birnin-Kebbi metropolis have been bestowed with gifts by the Nigeria Customs service Kebbi state in its maiden charity outreach to primary School pupils across the State. 

Donating the items to the pupil, the Controller of Customs, Kebbi State Command, Earnest Ihejerika Ejike  stated that the gift is part of Customs corporate social responsibility to the host Community.

He explained that, the charity visit to the school was meant to interact with the pupils to highlight the official job of Customs and draw their attention on the need for them to understand laws of land and contribution of Customs to National economy.

The Controller also told the pupils that every working and responsible citizen should pay their tax to enable the country get money to build schools across the country.

“We are here to give you a little token as part of our corporate responsibility and to tell you the work of Customs which include collecting revenues and to stop smuggling into the country, you all know that Kebbi is a border line state therefore our work here is inevitable.“ He told the pupils. 

Earlier, the headmaster of the school, Malam Aminu Sani in his response thanked officers and men of the Nigeria Customs for the charity visit and urged them to sustain the tempo, adding that the gesture will portray them as humane and responsible organisation with compassion, which will as well encourage the pupils to join Customs Service after school.

Emir of Gwandu, represented by the emirate council member, Alhaji Ibrahim Bashar described the kind gesture as timely saying the charity visit will open the eyes of the pupils to see and know the existence of Customs in their domain. 

“They will no longer fear Customs because they can testify to the fact that they have human heart and are lovers of education and the emir of Gwandu Alhaji Iliyasu Bashar is pleased with the visit and send his blessings to the entire Customs in Kebbi Command.” He said.
