CUPP Condemns 50% Increase In Telecommunications Tarrifs …Says It Will Excerbate The Pains Of The Masses
The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, has condemned the 50% increase in the telecommunications tariffs.
CUPP in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Comrade Mark Adebayo in Abuja on Wednesday said it would further exacerbate the pains occassioned by subsidy removal.
The statement read; “
It is shocking to see the unending punitive policies of the Tinubu administration which are a wicked package of attacks against the purchasing powers of regular Nigerians.
“Since his inception as Nigeria’s president, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made it a fundamental policy of the state to impoverish Nigerians and escalate hunger and hopelessness in the country despite promising renewed hope.
“
Even in the midst of burgeoning inflation, mass hunger and debilitating insecurity, this administration does not mind exacerbating the suffering of Nigerians with more economic pains, woes, and agonies.
“
Hiding under the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003, the Tinubu administration would rather punish Nigerians to ensure the financial sustainability of the telecoms sector by approving a whopping 50 per cent increase in telecommunications tariffs than prioritize the survival of Nigerians that he pledged to serve, protect and give hope.
“CUPP, hereby condemns in its totality, any further exacerbation of the pains and impoverishment of Nigerians via inhuman and Satanically influenced policies with killer neo-liberal overdose.
“
We call on the Nigeria Labour Congress and Civil Society Organizations not to completely dump the planned nationwide protests against this horrible tariff increases because the so-called 10-member committee set up to address key concerns raised by Labour is a mere distraction and deceptive facade to buy time but still go ahead to implement that evil telecommunications tariff increases.
“
From the precipitate removal of fuel subsidy, to crazy electricity tarrif increases, to dangerous hikes in food prices, as Nigerians are finding the means to solve one headache inflicted by this pretentious government, they unleash a fresh series of anti-people policies.
“
The Tinubu administration behaves like an army of occupation which has come to kill, steal and destroy. Why his government hates Nigerians this much, it is only the administration that can answer that question.
“
We call on Nigerians to remain steadfast and continue to be patriotic and prepare to vote in a humane, patriotic, competent, and incorruptible president to power through the ballot in 2027. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
