Afenifere Disowns ‘Mid-Term Report’…. Expresses Hope That FG’s Steps Will Soon Bring Reliefs
The pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has disclaimed a report purportedly issued in its name and presented as ‘a mid-term assessment’ of the federal government under President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
In a release issued by the organization’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, Afenifere stated that the said report was not issued by it and should be disregarded by members of the public.
The body stated that it understood the challenges Nigerians are facing.
However, it was quick to add that it also understood that steps are being taken by the government to tackle these challenges with a view not only to bringing reliefs to suffering Nigerians but also to put in place frameworks that will guarantee a sound future for the country and the people.
Afenifere said that it has, from time to time, drawn attention of those in government to areas needing urgent actions with suggestions given on how to tackle the challenges.
The statement added that “We shall continue to offer our support and advice, through established channels, to ensure an all-round success for the benefit of the teeming masses of our people”.
The organization expressed the hope that as the administration begins its third year in office, the high cost in transportation and food items will soon be brought down considerably and security in parts of the country would be strengthened through, among other steps, the prompt take-off of state police.
