Group Raises Fresh Alarm On Plans To Hijack United Supporters Club…Calls The NSC To Wade In, Save The Situation 

By Akeem Busari A new wave of trouble looms large as the planned unification of all the football supporters club in Nigeria, is in the dangers of being hijacked by a group of people led by the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee, Vincent Okumagba.

 This new development was highlighted yesterday evening to the media by Chief Diprieye Thompson, the National Coordinator of Friends Of Nigeria Sports (FNS), who has been following happenings in troubled football fans clubs.

The renowned sports activist remarked that the IMC, which combines 6 different supporters club, was setup by the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation, to bring the clubs under one umbrella in order to coordinate their activities during matches of the national teams. 

According to him, Okumagba, in his characteristic and inordinate ambitions has concluded plans with some people in the NFF, to register a new fans group with the Corporate Affairs Commission, supposedly on behalf of other groups in the IMC.

“This man, Okumagba, is a big problem.  And his greedy lust for powers would never make the genuine reconciliation and unification plans for the supporters clubs, possible. He is presently the IMC Chairman and with tenure to expire next year and new leaders to be elected. But he is making serious plans to scuttle the plans for smooth transitions,” the fiery sports activist disclosed.

 “Imagine that he is planning to single-handedly give a new name to the united supporters, as well as, make his himself the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, with sweeping powers to remove whosoever, is elected as chairman, according to his whims and caprices.

 “On behalf of Friends Of Nigeria Sports  and other concerned stakeholders, I am making an urgent request that the duo of Mallam Shehu Dikko and Hon.Bukola Olopade at the helm of affairs at the National Sports Commission, urgently look into this looming dangers that further threatens irreparable disunity amongst the various football supporters clubs,” he added.
