De Genius Olivet College Emerges Ogun State Best, College In Science Exhibition

De Genius Olivet College, Tigbo, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, has once again for 3rd year running distinguished itself by winning first place again in the senior category of the Ogun State All Secondary schools Science Exhibition.

The event, organized by the Ogun State chapter of the Science Teachers Association, of Nigeria featured over 180 secondary schools across the state.

The winning project, a locally developed innovation titled “The Automatic Hand-Driven Plough, Planter & Herbicide Spraying Machine,” was praised for its potential to revolutionize farming practices in Nigeria among peasant farmers,if embraced by State,Federal governments and Manufacturing firms.

The machine, designed by students of De Genius Olivet College, combines automation with manual operation to support efficient crop planting and herbicide application, a development judges deemed both practical and impactful.

With the victory, the school will represent Ogun State at the upcoming National Science Exhibition Finals,coming up August this year.

This marks a back-to-back achievement for the school, which also won the state competition in 2024 and went on to clinch the national title at Abuja, earning widespread acclaim.

Commending the students and their tutors, Hon. Ahmed Omisore congratulated the school for its innovation and consistency.

He encouraged the team to aim for another national victory, saying, “You have made Ogun State proud once again, now go and bring back the trophy.”
