“C. O. Adebayo Was Exemplary In Integrity, Service And Patriotism, “-Afenifere Says As It Pays A Condolence Visit To His Family
The pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, on Thursday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief C. O. Adebayo, a distinguished elder statesman and committed advocate of Yoruba values and progress.
The delegation, led by former Ondo State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, conveyed the heartfelt sympathies of Pa Reuben Fasoranti and the entire members of Afenifere Worldwide to the bereaved family at their residence in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi stated this in an electronic mail sent to newsnowonline.com.ng on Thursday.
Speaking on behalf of the organization, Dr. Mimiko described Chief Adebayo as “a towering figure whose life epitomized service, integrity, and deep commitment to the Yoruba nation and Nigeria at large.”
He noted that Chief Adebayo’s contributions to national development and his unwavering support for justice, equity, and the ideals of Afenifere will remain indelible in history.
“Baba lived a life of purpose, serving not only the Yoruba Nation, but the entire country, with uncommon patriotism. His wisdom, unalloyed commitment and courage will be sorely missed, especially at this critical time in our national life,” Dr. Mimiko said.
The delegation prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the departed elder statesman and for God’s comfort and fortitude for the family he left behind.
It reiterated Afenifere’s resolve to continue upholding the values and vision for which Chief Adebayo stood.
Other members of the delegation included the Secretary General, Agbaakin Ademola Folarin, National Legal Adviser, Dr Akin Onigbinde SAN, Chief Dare Babarinsa CON, Deacon Owolabi Oladejo and other prominent Afenifere leaders including chairman of Afenifere, Kogi State, Chief Ayo Abereoran and representatives from various Yoruba communities.
The team was received by the son of the deceased Mr. C. O. Adebayo Jnr, daughter, Mrs Jegede (nee Adebayo) and her husband as well as other family members, including Dr David Atte.
The family in response, expressed appreciation for the visit and thanked the Leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti CFR and Afenifere for standing with them in their moment of grief.
Chief C. O. Adebayo, a former Minister of Communications and a respected voice in Yoruba and National affairs, passed on recently at the age of 84.
